Alison graduated with a first class honours MChem degree from Durham University, which included a year-long industrial placement at UCB Pharma. She then completed a DPhil in Organic Chemistry at the University of Oxford, part of which was carried out during a three-month secondment at GlaxoSmithKline. She has presented her work at a number of national and international conferences and has published five papers.

Alison joined Sagittarius IP in 2014 and is based in our Marlow office. She qualified as a UK Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney in 2017. She completed CIPA’s Litigation Skills Course in 2017 and holds the Intellectual Property Litigation Certificate. Prior to joining Sagittarius IP, Alison worked in the Life Sciences department of a large technology transfer firm.

Alison has experience in all aspects of pharmaceutical patent practice, and in particular has extensive experience with handling a number of large IP portfolios, developing patent strategy, drafting, prosecution, due diligence and opposition work. Alison’s work focuses on medicinal chemistry, in particular small molecule pharmaceuticals, and she also has experience with radiopharmaceuticals, formulation chemistry, devices, and nucleic acids. Alison is currently working on a regular part-time basis in-house with one of her clients, where she is gaining valuable experience.

Alison is an examiner for Paper F of the EQE and is also leading Sagittarius IP’s commitment to its Corporate and Social Responsibility activities. She is also a member of CIPA’s Sustainability Committee.
