Scott has a first class honours MEng degree in Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry from Aston University and a DPhil degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford. He also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Manchester.
Scott entered the profession in 2004, qualified as a European Patent Attorney and a UK Chartered Patent Attorney in 2008 and became a partner in 2009.
Based in our Marlow and London offices, Scott’s practice includes patent drafting, prosecution and freedom to operate analysis for biotechnology, chemical and pharmaceutical inventions, with particular emphasis on new chemical entities and vaccines (including adjuvants, vectors and RNA technologies). He has handled a number of SPC applications in the UK and other European territories. Scott also has experience with inventions relating to diagnostics, cosmeceuticals, medical devices and chemical processing apparatus. He is experienced in undertaking IP due diligence activities relating to product and corporate transactions for life sciences organisations.
Scott is actively involved in IP education and has been a tutor on the JDD training course for the UK FD1 patent attorney examination (Advanced IP Law and Practice, formerly known as ‘P2′) since 2009.
