Mark’s technical background includes an honours degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Leicester (1995) and a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Sheffield (1998).
Mark entered the patent profession in 1998 with GlaxoSmithKline where he gained valuable experience of pharmaceutical related issues. He qualified as a UK Chartered Patent Attorney in 2002 and a European Patent Attorney in 2003. Mark joined a private practice IP firm in 2004 and became the managing partner of a branch office. Since then, Mark has been involved with providing intellectual property support for a wide variety of clients, ranging from major pharmaceutical companies to sole inventors. Mark joined Sagittarius IP in 2009 as the managing partner of our Cambridge office.
Mark has particular knowledge of drafting and prosecuting patent applications relating to pharmaceutical compounds, peptides, formulations, biomarkers and diagnostic kits, specialising in biotechnology, chemical and pharmaceutical inventions. He is experienced in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a wide variety of countries, as well as in contentious matters such as European oppositions and UK and US litigation.
